We are making great progress towards our concert! Look below to find out what your group did last Friday.
Middle School Orchestra
We started working more in our new books, specifically on Rolling Along (p. 8 #19) and Lightly Row (p. 9 #22). We will play both of these pieces for our concert, so make sure to practice them at home! We also worked on Twinkle, Twinkle and added a harmony part.
We have been working on reading the notes on the staff, because our last couple of concert songs won’t have the names of the notes inside of the notes. Try to start memorizing where the notes are now!
Elementary Orchestra
We started by reviewing Twinkle, Twinkle, along with the harmony parts. For the Friday Celebration, I would like to play through Twinkle, Twinkle twice — once with everyone playing the same part, and once with some people also playing the harmony parts. As a reminder, we are playing in the Friday Celebration on the same day as our concert — Friday, December 8th!
We then worked in our books on Rolling Along (p. 8 #19) — also known as Mary Had a Little Lamb! We also started working on Lightly Row (p. 9 #22). The trickiest part of Lightly Row is the first two measures, so work on those the most!
We also started talking about how to read the notes on the staff. For now, the names of the notes are inside the note heads, but that won’t be the case for long! Try to start memorizing where the notes are now.
Have a great week!
