Hi everyone! Look below to see the review for your orchestra.

As a reminder, we will not have rehearsals this Friday, February 16th, due to there being no school. Don’t forget to practice, and I’ll see you all on Friday, February 23rd!

Middle School Orchestra

  • Royal Promenade — We went through the patterns for each section found in measures 5 through 21, and then we learned the first 4 measures. Starting at measure 29, this music repeats! We then went through the middle, measures 21-29. These are really easy, so you should be able to practice the whole thing now!
  • Seven Nation Army — This is our tough one! Please be sure to practice it at home. We went through the beginning a bit and then did some of the chorus at measure 23.
  • Canon in D — We went through and figured out the notes. If you weren’t able to finish figuring them out during class, please finish it at home! This piece is pretty easy, so I’m hoping you can practice the whole thing over the next couple of weeks.
  • Abandoned Funhouse — We decided to assign parts to each individual rather than having everyone learn all of the parts, in order to save time. Eleanor will play Part 1, Dilyn will play Part 2, and Everett will play Part 3. Please try to practice your parts at home during the break so that we can put them together next week.

Elementary Orchestra

This week, we tried to make sure everyone has tapes on their instruments, because we will be putting fingers down very soon!

We practiced The Salamander Samba from the beginning until C. Notice that D until the end is very similar to the music at A, so we almost know the whole thing!

We then went to On a Swing and learned from the beginning until 29. On a Swing uses your bows, and each note is a long bow, lasting 3 beats.

If you haven’t already, please make sure to write in the names of the notes in both The Salamander Samba and On a Swing. You should be able to figure out what they are from the papers I gave you, which are posted below. Be sure to practice over the next two weeks, because we will be doing some tougher stuff when we come back!
