We had a great week! Please look below for your orchestra’s rehearsal review.
Note: We will NOT be having rehearsal next week, on February 2nd. We will resume rehearsals on February 9th. If you ever have any questions about our schedule, you can reference our calendar here.
We had a small group today, so we just reviewed Abandoned Funhouse and Royal Promenade. We also went over how to play some of the new notes in Seven Nation Army. Please be sure to practice at home, especially if you weren’t able to attend rehearsal!
This week, we learned about quarter notes, quarter rests, and whole rests in an effort to start learning The Salamander Samba. We also learned about where our open strings are on the staff and wrote in some note names in The Salamander Samba.
We learned about how to hold the bow and practiced using the bow on our open strings. For information about the bow grip, watch the video below:
Have a great week!
Hi everyone!
Look below to review what we did at our last rehearsal. We will not have rehearsals this coming Friday, October 13th, due to Fall Break. Our next rehearsal will be on Friday, October 20th. Use the information below to practice during the break. Thanks!
We reviewed Twinkle Twinkle and Mary Had a Little Lamb. If you want music for it or some extra instruction, look at the photos and videos below. We also learned London Bridge, which is on page 20, number 97. Check it out!
We have been invited to play in the Music Showcase on November 3rd, but I think we might not be ready by then! We can also perform in the Music Showcase on February 23rd. Let me know what you all think!
We continued to work on Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and also started learning Mary Had a Little Lamb. Look below for videos about how to play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and music pages for each. Be sure to practice this week!
We won’t have practice this Friday because there is no school, so our next rehearsal will be on Friday, September 29th. Make sure to practice at home!
This week, we practiced using the bow and then started learning how to put our fingers on the D string. Here is a video about how to put your fingers on the strings:
Try to practice the music on page 8, and then try to learn Merrily We Roll Along (#31) on page 9.
We learned how to use the bow! Look at the video below to review the bow grip:
Don’t worry if it doesn’t sound great at first! Screeching and scratching in the beginning is totally normal. The more you practice, the more you will learn how to play the string you want to play. Don’t forget that your instrument likes lots of bow! Don’t push the bow down, but instead move it sideways to get a great sound. We will work on it together at our next rehearsal!
