It was so great to see everyone today! I am so excited for our new semester of the Denver Orchestra Academy.
Each week, I will update the blog to let you know what we did that day. This can help you know what you should be practicing at home, and it can also help if you end up having to miss a day. Look for your orchestra below to see this week’s review!
Middle School Orchestra
This week, we listened to each of our pieces and then learned a section of each one. I would like you to practice the following sections at home this week:
- Royal Promenade — measures 5-21
- The Abandoned Funhouse — measures 9-25 of Part I
- Seven Nation Army — beginning through measure 14
- Canon in D Round — first 8 measures
Elementary Orchestra
This week, we learned about the parts of our instruments and how to hold them. Information about this can be found on pages 2 and 3 of their books. We then learned our open strings and used pizzicato (plucking) to play them. Then, we played through the songs on pages 3 and 4 with pizzicato.
Next week, we will review the bow grip and we can start using bows at that point.
See you all next week!
